A Teams deep link helps a colleague open the model context behind a question. Add the review request and model revision to the message so that the recipient knows what to inspect and what response is needed.
Share an element reference
- Open the IFC model in the Flinker viewer within Teams.
- Select the element you want the recipient to inspect.
- Use the viewer's Share command and copy the generated link.
- Paste it into the relevant chat or channel with the model revision and review question.
For example: “Please confirm the opening requirement for this wall in structural model revision P03. The proposed route is recorded in issue 147.” Include the responsible person and due date where an action is required.
Use a BCF topic for an established issue
If the discussion belongs to an existing BCF topic, load the associated IFC and BCF files, select the topic, and use Share. The BCF deep-link guide instructs you to copy the rich-text link with Ctrl+C while the Teams share dialog is open. Opening it returns the recipient to the tab and selected topic with its saved viewpoint.
An element reference identifies the object being discussed. A BCF topic provides the issue context and viewpoint. Use the form that matches the handoff.
Check access and model revisions
A deep link does not grant file or application access. Confirm that the recipient can use the configured Teams tab and open its linked files. Setup and consent requirements are covered in the Teams deployment guide.
Do not treat a link as a permanent snapshot. Files can move, permissions can change, and later exports can replace elements or change their identifiers. Retain the reviewed revision and supporting evidence in the issue record, and check unresolved links after a model update.
